Electric Scooter

Electric scooters are an innovative way to commute to work and a convenient option for midday trips to lunch or for meetings. E-scooters have no harmful tailpipe emissions and use a fraction of the energy compared to cars. They reduce traffic congestion and don’t need a big space to park.

The City of Kansas City, Missouri, is rolling out an e-scooter pilot program that includes Bird, Spin and RideKC Scooter.

To ride an electric scooter, download the provider’s mobile app to find, unlock and park scooters. Use the app to pay for your ride and to give feedback.

Tips for safe scooting:

  • Electric scooters are not allowed on the sidewalk. If possible, choose a bike lane or low-traffic streets.
  • Wearing a helmet is encouraged.
  • Do not park e-scooters where they will block access to sidewalks, wheelchair ramps and building entrances. Park them near existing bike racks when possible.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, road surfaces, traffic and pedestrians. And be extra cautious around the KC Streetcar tracks!
