Employer Teams - Green Commute Challenge

Why your company should participate in the Green Commute Challenge

Showcase your company’s environmental leadership while encouraging employees to explore money-saving commute options. Employees who regularly take alternatives to driving alone save money and experience less stress. And active transportation choices like walking and cycling contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

In 2018, Green Commute Challenge participants collectively reduced driving by over 500,000 miles, saved more than $100,000 and nearly 400,000 pounds of pollutants. That goes to show how many small actions add up to a big impact. We hope your company will join us to make this year’s challenge the best yet!

RideshareKC is here to help you succeed

Leading a team for this online challenge is easy. RideshareKC staff will provide you with everything you need -- tips, posters, messages, graphics and information on alternative commute choices. Team members choose their favorite green commute option – carpool, vanpool, bus, streetcar, cycling, walking or telework – and log their trips online to win points for your team.

Contest Updates

Each week, RideshareKC will email a weekly update to all participants in the Green Commute Challenge. This update will include a list of weekly prize winners, a tally of team points in each size category, a summary of miles and emissions reduced to date, interesting facts about alternative transportation and profiles of area Green Commuters.

(Hint: Ask your IT department to whitelist ridesharekc.org so participants will be able to receive these updates and other communications.)

Teams compete against employers of a similar size to see who can log the most Green Commute trips. Top performing teams in each size category will be recognized and given an award at end of the Challenge.

Team sign-up for 2019 starts on May 6. Contact rideshare@marc.org for more information about leading an employer team.
